In case you haven't heard, the European Union has taken a monumental step in protecting the fundamental right to privacy for every EU resident with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will be effective from 25th May 2018. Simply put, EU residents will now have greater say over what, how, why, where, and when their personal data is used, processed, or disposed. This rule clarifies how the EU personal data laws apply even beyond the borders of the EU. Any organization that works with EU residents' personal data in any manner, irrespective of location, has obligations to protect the data. The UK has stated that it will comply with GDPR, with Brexit having no affect.
At GetBusy, we take the trust placed in us to stringently secure and protect our customers data very seriously and welcome the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We believe that every business should be held accountable to the same high standards to which we hold ourselves and are quick to appreciate when there's a new measure of accountability that we can use to test and improve what we do.
Like many of our customers, we are actively preparing for GDPR.
We've been busy scrutinising the new legislation (over and over again) and we're taking the necessary steps to ensure diligent compliance across all of our teams and services by the time enforcement begins on 25th May 2018.
As the GDPR is consistent with how we already think and operate, we've got a shorter GDPR journey to go on than a lot of businesses (Phew!). The concept of security and privacy 'by design' isn't new to us as it's a fundamental part of how we already operate. Our security practices already comply with the most widely accepted standards and regulations, including our ISO 27001 certification which reflects our existing commitment to information security. We'll continue to actively monitor regulatory guidance and interpretations of key GDPR requirements to make sure we're well informed and doing the right things in the right way all the way up to the deadline and beyond.
With all this effort being ploughed in to our understanding of GDPR, it's only fair that we try and help others based on what we've learned. GDPR Resource Centre & Free Guides
